This is the best camera I have come across as far as image quality is concerned. The image is sharp, clear and has great color and contrast. It works very well in all lighting levels. The Twain drivers are good and have plenty of useful controls. I have had some minor problems with long term stability with the drivers. The only real complaint is it has some problems automatically adjusting across wide light level changes.

There are 2 models of this camera. CS430 and CS431, the only difference other than color of the case and cable is the 431 has a built in microphone and the capability of receiving an S-video signal, and stereo audio inputs via an external cable. Both cameras have a composite video input. I now have five CS430s and one CS431. I found several refurbished ones in a used computer store and was given several by my brother. I have been told they can sometimes be found on E-bay.

    Pluses
  • Actual sensor resolution 640x480

  • Remains very sharp in low light
  • Stand removable and has a standard brass tripod mounting hole
  • Extra long 10 foot cable

    Minuses
  • Twain driver is unstable over time, auto settings can't keep up with lighting changes
